Lisa Nerenberg

Lisa Nerenberg is the Executive Director of the California Elder Justice Coalition, which was formed in 2012 to provide a voice from the field of elder justice to policy makers. She has presented at hundreds of professional forums and written extensively about elder justice policy and practice with emphases on multidisciplinary teams, victims’ rights and services, and public health approaches to abuse prevention. Her book Elder Justice, Ageism and Elder Abuse (Springer, 2019) offers a framework for understanding ndividual rights and social justice in aging policy and programs.

Her earlier Elder Abuse Prevention: Emerging Trends and Promising Strategies (Springer, 2008) describes what the public, government, agencies, and advocates can do to prevent abuse, treat its effects, and ensure justice. She has provided consultation to the National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse, the National Indian Council on Aging, and the Huguette Clark Family Foundation, and currently serves on the California Elder and Disability Coordinating Council. Her current interests include undue influence and promoting restorative justice approaches to preventing elder abuse.
